I will discipline my students tastefully and in the correct context. I will never openly yell at or rebuke a child - I will always pull the student to the side and quietly explain what is wrong. I will be firm, but fair. I will stick to my posted rules, and have consequences lined up if each of the rules is broken. My students will very clearly understand the consequences that will happen if they break these rules. I believe that each student is a child of God, and has immense value; which is why I will be very careful in discipline, and only discipline the students because it is best for them. The purpose of correcting student misbehavior and instituting classroom rules is to create a safe, orderly, positive learning environment. (Effective School Discipline, 2010) This will allow the students to understand that when they make a poor choice, there is a consequence for their actions. After this happens once or twice, the students will realize that misbehaving is not worth the consequences.
